Nathalie Shaw's CV
Nathalie was appointed solo violinist of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble (USA) in 2008.
Resident in Paris, Nathalie has given recital and concerto tours to the USA, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Austria, Spain, Italy, Denmark as well as France. She plays regularly at the festivals of Lucerne, Gex, Windsor, Leeds, St. Moritz, Metz, and « Spaces of Music Festival » in Poland. Recently, she was invited as guest concertmaster of the Aarhus Symfoniorkester in Denmark and was also solo violin for a chamber adaptation of Janacek’s « Cunning Little Vixen » at the Opera Bastille in Paris during the 2015-16 season.
She performs regularly as solo violin of European ensembles such as Projet Bloom, Ensemble Cairn, Ensemble Stravinsky, Ensemble Itinéraire, Ensemble Lucilin…. and has worked extensively with the Ensemble Intercontemporain under the direction of Pierre Boulez, Susanna Malkki and Francois-Xavier Roth. She is involved with many projects and recordings at IRCAM, and gives masterclasses at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, universities in the USA (Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Texas) and England (London, Leeds…) to young contemporary composers and string players.
Nathalie has a wide-ranging recital repertoire with a specialist knowledge and experience of contemporary music. She was invited by Pierre Boulez to première Jérôme Combier’s « Anima Foglia » for Solo Violin in the Lucerne Festival, Switzerland and as part of the series “Le Louvre invite Pierre Boulez”, broadcast live on Radio France. She has since premièred and broadcast dozens of chamber and solo works in France and across Europe, as well as in the USA in her capacity as Solo Violin of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble.
A passionate chamber musician, Nathalie is Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the « Festival International de Musique de Chambre en Charente » in South-West France, founded 10 years ago by the Shaw String Trio (with Julian Shaw – viola, Jacob Shaw – ‘cello).
Nathalie Shaw currently holds a professorship at the Conservatoire Municipal Darius Milhaud (14th arrondissement, Paris) and was named “Citoyenne d’Honneur” of Angoulême (France) in 2016.
Fabrice Loyal's CV
French-born cellist Fabrice Loyal studied at the Conservatoire in Paris and at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva, Switzerland in the class of Daniel Grosgurin where he was awarded the ‘prix de virtuosité’. Fabrice is also a beneficiary of the Cziffra Foundation and holds a diploma from the Tibor Varga Academy, Switzerland, and Summering, Austria. Further studies include masterclasses with Paul Tortelier, Truls Mork, Janos Starker, Gabor Takacs and a masters course in Budapest with Miklos Perenyi.
As a seasoned recitalist and chamber musician, Fabrice has concertised across Western Europe and also in Turkey, Bulgaria, Jordan, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Singapore over the last few seasons with artists such as Marielle Nordmann, Emmanuel Pahud, Martha Argerich, Philippe Bernold, Denis Pascal, Maxence Larrieu, Jean-Pierre Wallez, Igor Oistrach…and has also performed and recorded with numerous jazz musicians including Charles Dumont, Thomas Dutronc and Stéphane Grappelli.
Fabrice Loyal currently holds professorships at the Schola Cantorum and the Conservatoire du XIVe in Paris. He performs regularly as soloist and chamber musician with the Geneva Soloists, the Paris Mozart Trio and the ensemble Les Virtuoses. He is also Artistic Director of the International Festival « Automne Musical du Vésinet ».
